So you’re back from a NACA event, now what?

As you return from a recent NACA conference, it’s back to the real world. Time to do your day job and for students to again be students. But how do you work to maintain the momentum and build upon the work you started at one of NACA’s live events? Here are some tips and suggestions for how to continue business efforts back on campus.

  • Dust off that action plan from the closing session and keep it current. Remember your “why”: why you went to NACA, why you invested in yourselves and your students, and what you gained from your time away.
  • Have a post-conference delegation meeting. Debrief the things you learned, the new ideas you want to implement, and the current programs you’re offering that will continue to make a difference on your campus.
  • Expand the dialogue to include others who didn’t travel with you. This could be general members of your board, other student leaders, or your professional colleagues who would benefit from the connections you made. Share the resources you picked up in the Marketplace.
  • Challenge your student delegation to create a brief presentation of their time at NACA. Share your action plan, including their goals for the upcoming semester. Saying them out loud and sharing with others will maintain focus to achieve them.
  • Discuss your budget. Make space reservations. Vote on what you want to do.
  • Follow-up with Associate members. Let them know you want to do business.  Book the act. Schedule the service. Or let them know the timing isn’t just right. Continue to foster those relationships.
  • Spend some time perusing NACA 24/7. Check out the activity that has happened since the conference. See what’s trending in your area.  Submit a call for a new act or service to come to your campus.
  • Look ahead to identify the next NACA event you can attend; and not just the traditional conferences. We would love to see you in Philadelphia for NACA Live, but we also have outstanding learning opportunities at the upcoming Summer Institutes.

And, as always, reach out to your friendly Business Connections team if you have questions, need a refresher, or want to talk NACA business.

We can’t wait to see you in Philly in February!
