Brown & Mallard Elected to Board

The National Association for Campus Activities is pleased to announce Jarrick Brown, University of Colorado Denver and Cateatra Mallard, Florida A&M University have been elected to the Association's Board of Directors as general board members. Brown and Mallard will each serve three-year terms starting May 1, 2025. Online voting took place from February 17-24.

"I am excited for Jarrick and Cateatra to join the Board of Directors," states Alicia Bates, who will become Chair of the Board of Directors on May 1. "Given their various professional and volunteer experiences, both will bring a wealth of insight, knowledge, and new perspectives to help the Association further its vision to create college communities where everyone belongs."

Jarrick V. Brown serves as the Director of Student Life & Campus Community at the University of Colorado Denver, where he oversees student engagement, leadership programs, and campus-wide initiatives. With over a decade of experience in higher education, Jarrick is passionate about empowering students to lead, serve, and create inclusive communities. As a former NACA Central Regional Chair and a recipient of the Outstanding Diversity Achievement Award and Legacy Award, he brings a collaborative approach to enhancing student experiences. Jarrick’s leadership philosophy centers on mentorship, advocacy, and fostering environments where students thrive personally and academically.

Cateatra D. Mallard is a dynamic charismatic higher education professional. Making her imprint, she serves as the Director of the Efferson Student Union & Activities at the #1 public HBCU, Florida A&M University. Among her many accomplishments, she is a proud graduate of Hampton University, receiving her bachelor's in Psychology and master's in Counseling with a concentration in Student Affairs Administration, and pursuing an Executive Ph.D. in Higher Education from Jackson State University. She has dedicated ten years to student engagement, leadership development, and elevating student experiences. Cateatra is a change agent who leads with passion, purpose, integrity, and humility.

The Board of Directors is made up of nine volunteers of current school member institutions. The board exists to serve the Association's membership and works together as a team to strategize, plan, and oversee NACA's future health and viability. The board consists of three officers – chair, chair-elect, and immediate past chair (who also serves as treasurer), and six general board members.

Board members are the Association leaders who guide the organization towards a vibrant and sustainable future by adopting and adhering to sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies. Board members are responsible for making sure the Association has adequate resources to advance its mission. Learn more about the board here.
